NOTHING is more important than the food you put in your mouth. Whether your goal is weight loss, injury recovery, stress reduction, or vitality, your body needs proper nourishment. The food you consume literally becomes the cells in your body, hence the phrase “you are what you eat”. Eating processed, refined, dead food will not do much to add vitality to your body. Our food should provide us with energy. However if your body doesn’t recognize a food item, or if it has to work to somehow extract any form of nutrition from it and work to eliminate the toxins from that food, your body could be left in an energy deficit. Enter caffeine, sugar, carbohydrates and energy drinks for fake energy. And don’t think for a second that you can out-train a bad diet. Consider the fact the the average American exercises 1-3 times a week while we eat 20-45 times a week on average.
WHAT THE CURRENT AMERICAN BODY IS MADE OF
Cancer, Heart Disaese, and Diabetes are three of the biggest killers in America. However, 100 years ago these diseases were quite uncommon. Is it a coincidence that these diseases have skyrocketed at the same alarming rate that our food supply has become more and more commercialized? From the beginning of time until the mid 1900’s our food was organic. It didn’t have to be called organic back then. It was just “food”. Then industrial “advances” lead to factory farming, CAFO’s (concentrated animal feeding operations), and the widespread use of toxic insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, and fertilizers. Our food supply was shifted from local farmers to corporations. And if you think corporations or even the FDA have your health in mind, just take a look at some of the ingredients that are on the FDA’s GRAS (generally regarded as safe) list. Also, you might want to look into what the FDA allows CAFO’s to feed to their livestock, or deadstock as I like to call it: plastic, sawdust, candy, other dead animal parts, animal feces, GMO feed, insects, and of course a steady diet of antibiotics and growth hormones. Animals are what they eat, and if we eat that animal, we are what they eat. So, since the 50’s, we’ve been consuming increasing amounts of toxins from produce, hormones and antibiotics from animals, the garbage fed to those animals, and all of the toxic additives, preservatives, emulsifiers, and dyes thrown into packaged foods. Is it still hard to question why we are so susceptible to any disease?
HOW WHOLE FOOD NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING WORKS
I teach my clients how to identify and eat REAL FOOD. This may sound simple, but we’ve lost the idea of what real food is. Reading food labels can be dizzying. Trying to find out where a food item came from, or how it was farmed can be nearly impossible. I provide techniques to see through the deception, and make healthy food shopping as enjoyable and inexpensive as possible. When eating out, you’ll have the knowledge to decipher what the least worst option is, and when and how to allow yourself cheats.
Food is one of the most wonderful, enjoyable things on earth. Knowing how, when, and what to eat will make the experience that much more enjoyable, and your body will show the rewards both internally and externally.
