You are what you eat and you can’t out-train a bad diet. Proper nutrition must be present to enable exercise results and to be seen. What kind of muscles, ligaments, and connective tissue can you build out of Doritos and bagels?
Muscle is formed and built in bed, not the gym. We break down muscle fibers at the gym. It’s when we rest that these fibers repair, regenerate, and grow bigger and stronger. Also, an appropriate exercise routine should beneficially stress the system enough to set us up for proper sleep.
Exercise has been proven to reduce stress in the body. Anabolic hormones (like testosterone) that are produced during resistance training have an inverse relationship with catabolic stress hormones (like cortisol). However when we are in a state of stress, the wrong type of exercise can actually add more stress to the system.
