It’s remarkable that in 2025, most of the public is still in the dark about geoengineering. If it’s safe, and in harmony with nature, why is the practice so secretive? In combating climate change, are we rocking nature’s boat too much and bringing on other environmental issues like natural disasters and drought? What’s the impact on farmers who are supposed to grow the food to nourish us? Or will we need more scientific interventions like lab grown meat to feed the world?
Well, at least one state (Florida) has criminalized geoengineering, joining Tennessee which was the first to ban it. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. At the very least, this requires more public discourse about the justification, and potential side effects of geoengineering.
